I believe that today, the United States is approaching a very important time. Associated with that time are of course decisions, decisions by the people that populate our great land and by the people that our decisions have placed in positions of leadership. These facts spur in me, as they may in you, a great deal of thought and one of my thoughts seems to stand out amongst the others. That thought is this:

The candidates of today are faced with many struggles dealing with such gems as our presently lackluster economy, the ever-rising price of oil, our environmental impact and how to reduce said impact, innumerable foreign policy issues, the war, import/export ratio, and on and on until the list seems to stretch into infinity. In this time of decision and strife, I immediately think about our great leaders of yore who pioneered amazing feats that make this great country what it is today and I can help but wonder…how would our forefathers deal with the situations we are faced with today? If these people like Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, hell, even Lincoln, the people that knit our nation into something great, lived in our times, how would they lead us? Would they be effective?

I know that plopping them down in 2008 and being all like, “Hey George, check this out.” might be pretty ineffective and stupid overwhelming at first but after they got a handle on things and the state of the world, I think they might be able to accomplish some kick-ass shiz. Think about the things these guys did and what was accomplished under their guidance, thats right, some really great stuff. I know some of them weren’t perfect but overall the pros outweigh the cons by a lot. Man, I would love to hear what these guys might say about the war, our foreign dependence (I bet they wouldn’t be too happy about this one), and our government spending. What a convo that would be. We can only hope that someone comes along, and soon, that can be and will be as great and the builders of this nation.

So, thats what I’ve been thinking. Ridiculous thoughts, I know. Let the completeness of my ramblings make up for the lack of reality. Your mom just really liked Abe’s hat.
